These periscopic binoculars are a specialized optical instrument developed for use in armored fighting vehicles, particularly tanks. They were designed to allow a tank commander to observe the battlefield while remaining protected within the turret. Unlike traditional binoculars, these were periscopic, meaning they could provide a line of sight above the armored hull while keeping the user safely below the turret's armor.
