The only state to have a ship's flag as its state banner.
At the time the battleship Arizona was christened for the state of that name, Arizona, admitted tot he union on Feb. 14, 1912, did not have a state flag. A bill was adopted in the state senate early in 1917, to use the ship's flag as the state's banner.
This has been described as "one of the most striking of the State banners."
